NTU was founded inwards 1979 equally the Navajo Skills Center inwards Crownpoint, NM. It was designated equally a field grant college inwards 1979 together with became Crownpoint Institute of Technology inwards 1985. The advert together with hence changed to Navajo Technical College inwards 2006.
